------ 500 BC - Abacus.
Hard to relate to in computer terms, but
being mechanical and working
with numbers,
it was a crude computer. (note: we do not
service Abacus's)
------ 1822 - First Mechanical Computer.
The Difference Engine, invented by Charles Babbage.
First conceived in
1812, it took him 10 years to build a
working model. 1+1 was confirmed to equal 2
about the
same time.
------ 1942 - First Electronic Computer.
Atanasoff-Berry Computer represented several
innovations in computing, including a binary system of
arithmetic, parallel
processing, regenerative memory,
and a separation of memory and computing
functions.
The words bit, byte and syntax error were also invented.
------ 1981 - First Personal Computer.
Keyboard not found, press F1 to

Bet they weren't
complaining about a slow connection.
Worlds First Web Site
------ 1997 - Wireless network standards developed.
Enabling truly free and mobile computing.
